Carlos Augusto Godoy (born 4 February 1961) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since April 2008. Godoy is also one of only a few men who have served in an area presidency of the LDS Church prior to becoming a general authority.
Godoy was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He joined the LDS Church at age 16. After serving a year in the Brazilian military, he became a LDS Church missionary in the Brazil São Paulo South Mission. Mônica Brandão, who was from his ward (Porto Alegre 4th), also served in this mission. Godoy and Brandão married in the São Paulo Brazil Temple about a year after he finished his mission.
Godoy holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Pontifical Catholic University in Brazil. He holds a master's degree in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University.
Godoy has worked as a manager for Johnson and Johnson, Otis Elevator, Dow Corning and Sachs Automotive.
By the age of 26, Godoy was serving as a bishop in the LDS Church. From 1997 to 2000, Godoy was the president of the Brazil Belém Mission. Godoy became an area seventy in 2003 and was called as a counselor in the Brazil South Area Presidency in 2006.
In April 2008, Godoy was called as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
Godoy and his wife Mônica have four children.
